I'm so glad you've got me back into TNG. I am SOOO going to need another fandom once BSG is over and I'm a blubbering wreck and need to pick up the peices
heee! I'm thinking of throwing a TNG rewatch party in my journal when BSG ends. Just because I will so desperately need something safe and secure and friendly (plus, dude, Gates is so FRAKKIN cute)
"Any serious ride would have his own saddle" - quote WIN that totally reminded me of YOU the whole episode
OMG ICON LOVE!!!! Seriously, I need a orgy mood theme with Beverly, Roslin, Weir and Kathryn Janeway
And darn it! I don't remember those quotes anymore! I am slipping!!! Noooo!!! I used to have whole episodes basically memorized, with all fabulous Beverly moments, but now? Not so much. (Probably because I've been paying too much attention to Roslin's legs)
Er, also? I posted a rather long and wordy reply to your other post, and I'm on a rather lot of benadryl now, so if it comes across as anything other than supportive and thoughtful...hit me, because its not supposed to be.
Gates? Has legs taht I think turned me gay. (Well ok, to be fair I was already gay) but the legs sealed the deal ;p
I love IR's girl power love.
Also, (and I havent had time to go through your fic so maybe you have) but I have a question and I'm just curious, but do you write femslash at all? I was a little surprised when you said you were gay, given that the stories I've read of yours are all het (Not that I'm complaining becuase seriously, Picard/Crusher was probably the first OTP I had, and Adama Roslin is my current one) but mostly im asking because its hard to find good writers so if you write femslash, I totally wanna read!!
It was Janeway that really made me 100% sure. I wanted that woman, dammit.
even drugged, you're quite wise. I'm adding "keeper of race's maternal instinct" to my titling. I just need something to be the heir of and I'm set.
I've written femslash twice. Once it was OCs in the Trek Verse. Once it was Janeway and the Borg Queen. None of it is here.
My problem is that I get plot bunnies for the girls I have crushes on. Who are usually straight. Beverly Crusher, Laura Roslin, Kathryn Janeway, Elizabeth Weir... They're all straight. They're all in OTPs (for me anyway)
I can't take them away from that! I have serious Beverly love...but she's straight. I have a quirk about slashing characters that I think are straight. I strongly dislike sex with men. Beverly doesn't. I think in my frakked up little head, I'd feel bad if I wrote it.
I love Beverly and Deanna...but I never saw them as gay. Maybe Olivia and Alex on Law and Order?
I could write it if I made the guys in my OTPs women. If Picard was a girl, I'd be cool with it.
LMFAO. *pulls out a sword* Kneel Oparu. I, Racethewind10, do hereby dub thee keeper of my maternal instinct, and give unto thee all the rights, responsibilities and burdens contained within. Now arise and ...I don't know, go do something with it ;p
Kathryn Janeway...confirming fangirl's sexual preference since 1994. Seriously, I have to agree with you on that one! Xena might have made me gay, but Kathryn made me GLAD i was gay.
I will admit, I have a harder time slashing my sci fi girls. Roslin and Beverly? couldn't do it, at least not easily. (I never saw her and Deanna as anything more than friends) Elizabeth...her I could slash with Cadman (even though I adored John) I could totally slash Roslin with Janeway though....and then die of a heart attack from the hotness ;p The crime shows are easier to slash because the characters are A. more butch, and B. more of a blank slate. Alex and Liv get much fandom love. I slash Calleigh (CSI: Miami...don't judge) with EVERYONE. Emily Prentiss (Criminal Minds) etc. But I see your point. It is harder to slash them when there is a fantastic relationship with another character and it happens to be a guy. *shrug* just curious. Everyone has different views on it, and you seem like a reasonably rational intelligent individual who can discuss fandom without going all explody ;p
And if Picard was a woman...that would either be scary...or the hottest fraking thing ever ;p
I feel very honored. I'm trying to figure out what my new shield should look like. *ponders* You can have my love of horses phase, I totally missed that and I feel like less of a girl for it sometimes.
Beverly and Jean-Luc is just so special to me. I can't mess with it. (Though if Jean-Luc Picard was suddenly played by Alice Krige (dude I want that woman) I could go for it.)
Okay...Roslin I could see. Roslin and Janeway I would totally get into. (even though Roslin/Adama is win...Janeway's badass enough, that one I could see.) Calleigh is hot. (Emily Proctor was total win on West Wing) I could slash CJ Cregg.
Maybe there just aren't enough women? TNG only has two girls. I couldn't slash Janeway and Torres or Seven because she was like their mommy.
SGA is fun...but I never shipped Elizabeth and Teyla. It always felt like friends.
Zhaan I could slash with someone. Sikozu, I could slash but the characters don't speak to me as much. I don't immediately want to desperately frak them, like Beverly...
Sarah Connor I could slash but there's no one to slash her with.
*ponders* I love fandom. I love girl on girl stuff I just get wrapped up in my OTPs and have trouble seeing out of them. Especially if there's history.
Bottom line? I rarely ever get two awesome female characters together. Ever. If I did, I would ship like them like crazy.
ooh you never had the obsessed with horses thing? Ok, I'll take taht ;p I loved horses before I even knew what they were. I remember reading some of my very first horse books, it was like something in my soul clicked into place.
Alice Krige = hot.
I think you're right. There just arent a lot of slashable second characters. Like, ok, I'd love to slash Roslin with another woman, but Starbuck? Hmm, maybe back in season 1 or early 2, but not after that. So its crossover love for me. I only saw Elizabeth and Teyla as friends as well. But I wrote a story with Elizabeth and Aeryn :)
Sarah Connor I slashed with Cameron until they started doing the weird "Cameron thinks she is in love with John" thing.
omg i LOVE CJ/Ainsley! I adore Allison, and Emily was so made of win on WW.
I guess I'm just in denial. As much as I love my Het OTP's, I have a lot of femslash OTP's, and love putting female characters together. I think the chemistry is so diferent, and so fascinating to write, for me at least, its more satisfying to explore as a writer. And I'm a crossover whore. I write tons of them, so I guess I dont really hold to my OTP's very well ;p
I met her at a con and she had breakfast with me? And dude. The woman exudes something special. She has an aura of frakkingawesomeness. Is brilliant, and just moves like she owns the room. Her applause was longer than Torri's...
Go crossovers. I haven't watched s2...
But West Wing, I could slash. I could definitely slash them. Now I want to write girl!sex...
O.O you had breakfast with Alice?! *flails* Guh!!!
lol, I am crossover whore.
YES! I have succeeded in getting you to write girl!sex! (speaking of which, my fic - and you are under no obligation to read. I hate people that are like OMGREADMYFICLIKENOW...ANDREVIEW! ;p But I do have some WW slash. Which will onlly make sense if you've seen the last seasons though) http://www.fanfiction.net/u/1208949/RaceTheWind10
Ok. So, femslash OTP's. 1. Xena/Gabriel. Obviously. 2. Alex/Olivia Law & Order: SVU. (There is a secondary OTP Olivia/Casey. Its ok, but jesus those fans are rabid. 3. Emily/JJ Criminal Minds (I am actually rather fond of this one, and have written for them) There is a lot of canon evidence for this. Especially in season 3. For proof, see http://www.ralst.com/EJ_CM_Manifesto.HTM 4. Calleigh/Natalia CSI: Miami. (This is mine) 5. Catherine/Sara CSI (Again, a secondary OTP with Sara/Sofia) 6. CJ/Ainsley The West Wing 7. Sam/Janet Stargate: SG1 This one also has a huge following. 8. Susan/Talia Babylon 5 They were actually canon. For one episode. Then Talia left the show. *sighs* But it was canon bitches!!! 9. Olivia/Natalia ...Some soap I can't remember. THey are the latest craze. 10. House doesnt have a huge OTP following, but people slash Cuddy/13 Cuddy/Cameron, and my favorite Cameron/13. 11. Cameron/Sarah Terminator The Sarah Connor Chronicles 12. Kathryn/7 Star Trek: Voyager 13. Elizabeth/Teyla, Elizabeth/Cadman, Teyla/Heightmeyer, Stargate: Atlantis 14. Um....I'm running out of OTP's. There is plenty of other slash out there, but those are the most...rabidly followed pairings ;p
*snerk* I made my own OTP. I basically invented Calleigh/Natalia, and was one of the first writers to write for Criminal Minds. Then the idiot, annoying fangirls everyone else found the fandom and I got bored and disgusted and left.
