Multiple Choice Fanfiction Rants

I was pestering talking to
lanna_kitty at work and she sent me to the wider world of journal.
Today I have three complaints about fanfiction. So I present them to you in a multiple choice test.
Fanfiction thoughts for today:
A) If I do a small bit of research on wikipedia about anatomy, readers think I'm amazing and are surprised.
B) Why writing primarily functional pairings makes me less talented of a writerthan you.
C) How your one sentence comment on my 8 chapter story means I am obligated to read your 48 part WIP.
D) How 600 words constitutes an entire chapter.

Date: 2009-02-27 06:01 am (UTC)a - "look down; that's what's on wikipedia"
b - "it takes brains to write things that work"
c - "grow up, ya wanker"
d - "I've seen longer turnips"
(okay, so I've never actually said any of them - but I certainly thought them, or more severe versions thereof)

Date: 2009-02-27 03:29 pm (UTC)B) Because in fandom it seems most of the authors write pairings that, in real life, with real people, would never exist (like, I don't know, say... Sheppard/McKay???). From this point of view, they're right: they *have* to be better writers to make their stories a bit believable. :P
C) Is that one sentence a kind of threat? Does that person know something secret about you? If not, you're not obligated. But you *could* be obligated to let her know that you're not obligated. (ok, you're not obligated but it could be fun *g*)
D) Honestly? I don't care about the word count. I've read thousands words long chapters that I'd rather have them 600 words. :P
Joking apart, I've seen more self centered people in fandom than in Hollywood, lol. As far as they keep on writing good fics... or as far as there still are good fics... I guess it's fair. ;)
(love your icon and your new LJ, lol!)
