I keep thinking how much of a precursor to BSG TNG and DS9 are. I've been studying to Ron D. Moore eps of TNG and they have a distinctly BSG feel to them. I can feel how RDM's Picard led to Adama. They both have their moments, in a similar, intellectually poetic, brilliant leader sort of way.

The girls have more to do in RDM episodes and O'Brien and Ro Laren remind me a lot of Chief Tyrol (scarppy enlisted men anyone?) and Kara Thrace (frak up pilots? hello?)

When you get into DS9 (my next project) things change. Sisko gets darker than Picard ever got and DS9 is full of secondary characters. It's not the toybox where you take out the action figures (our heroes) and play with 'em for awhile. It's actually a world. RDM writes like that. BSG is totally like that.

RDM is particularly good with Deanna. He gives her lots of fun stuff. I'm rewatching from hte beginning and am currently suffering a lack of Beverly...because it's end of s4 and Gates had to go have a baby (the random ways they hid it are very amusing if you watch for it) There's a whole episode where Beverly's leaning on things. Since, in my opinion, she's the hottest, these episodes bore my girl-loving self, but are well written. ;)

While I was in Vancouver I had the most fun being gay. They had actual places for gay girls to hang out. And I knew them! It was insanely cool.

Here I actively sensor myself whenever anyone asks me what I like or dislike. I even change a few pronouns (and I feel guilty doing it) because it's way too complicated.

One of my students was writing sentences and suggested it was okay to kill 'a gay'. He came up and asked me how to spell gay so he could write it. How do you...?
