Star Trek: Lighthouse
because
mylittleredgirl rocks my world, and my job is begging for a layer of Star Trek...
We enter in the beginning of season two, in season one we followed young Ensign Oparu as she joined the USS Lighthouse. Fresh from her first assignment on the USS Legacy (my last film company), Oparu was initially concerned about her new commander and posting but seems to be fitting in all right.
USS Lighthouse is a diplomatic ship attached to the Federation economic control assigned to patrol a remote sector along the edge of the Alpha Quadrant.
Their primary responsibility is to maintain trade relations with distant colonies.
Bridge crew:
Formally in command is Ambassador T'coura Pel, part Romulan, part Vulcan but mostly human. She is a occasionally a formidable presence, but hides a far softer side. She's a workaholic who's been living for her duties. (she's also gorgeous and just broke up with her emotionally abusive Cardassian girlfriend, Vikessa. Fandom is pleased with this because they can now ship her with Ensign Oparu, who's had a crush on her all of first season)
Commander Barba, a Klingon woman with a knack for leadership and a ferocious temper is responsible for the day to day running of the ship. Though our beleaguered Ensign can't quite live up to her standards, she does keep trying and most of the time they get along. Barba has a caring side, much like a mother tiger, and our Ensign admires her greatly.
Lieutenant Adjoury Wynn, is the operations officer. An intelligent, caring, but mostly introverted Bajoran, she gets her work done and keeps her head down. Our Ensign wishes she could be more like her, but unfortunately, Oparu is too curious and noisy for her own good.
Ensign Oparu, naive, fresh from the Academy and not entirely sure of her self, our Ensign oscillates between doing her job extremely well and messing something up terribly. She seems to nearly constantly be on Commander Barba's short list and just can't get her head around everything fast enough. Frustrated with this because the Academy was so easy for her, Oparu is in an adjustment phase. Complicating this is her rampant crush on the Ambassador. In Episode 16 of season one, a drunken Ambassador and Ensign spent the night together in the Ambassador's quarters after an off-world celebration that contained a lot of alien alcohol. (Fandom seems to like the paring, and there are hopes the writers will develop it in the future)
*shipper note* In the pilot of season 2, T'Coura told Oparu that she needed some time to sort out her heart after her nasty break-up with Vikessa. Oparu was confused and mildly depressed by this, but she's hoping it will work out.
Lt. Commander Elva Parsons is the Bolian engineer. Usually she remains in engineering, quietly working away and emerges only for her two vices, a bitter smoking herb and a fizzy beverage.
Reoccurring characters:
Admiral Jack Nas is the sector supervisor, a cunning, charming Ferengi, he loves women and money but not always in that order. He occasionally uses the Lighthouse for transportation to various colonies, but spends most of his time assuring the some flow of trade in the sector.
Vice Admiral Duraeshahvar is his right hand. A soft-spoken, cultured, unjoined Trill with a taste for the finest things in life, she's served with Admiral Nas faithfully for many years and is well rewarded for her position.
Zohra, a Ferengi textiles trader from Sirius three who is temporarily aboard the Lighthouse while she conducts business.
Governor Pascal (director of the current film), the elected representative of the planet Sirius Three, he is a jovial man who cares deeply for his people.
Lt. Governor Greg (1st Assistant Director) is a demanding, self-centered, less organized man who only contacts the Lighthouse with requests for more supplies.
Counselor Viktor (2nd Assistant Director) is a humorless administrator tasked with updating the Lighthouse on the colony's progress.
Ted and Chris are his young trainee administrators who also update the Lighthouse but with better spirits.
Now I just need an ensign icon... *wink* Season Two, episode two should be up tonight (it's a late shift and I'll get bored)

Did I ever tell you that before Realty TV, I had "Shop Trek" -- something I actually wrote for my coworkers at a new-age retail store I worked at? Every morning before work I would write a chapter and post it. I was Ensign Sachi, the helmsman, and I think I was actually a surgically-altered Romulan spy during one plot development.
It all started because the acting manager was a major Trekkie too, and used to say things like "You have the bridge!" when she'd leave me in charge.
